Notify meWhat is responsible alcohol server training?
Responsible alcohol server and seller training teaches the people who serve or sell alcohol how to do so safely and legally. Many states and local jurisdictions require anyone who serves, sells, or supervises the service of alcohol to complete an approved training program — and some require it within a set number of days of being hired.
Because requirements are set state by state, the rules for who needs training, how often it must be renewed, and which programs are approved vary widely. Always check with your state alcohol beverage control agency for the specifics that apply to you.
What the training will cover
Our upcoming program is being designed around the core responsibilities of anyone serving or selling alcohol:
- Checking identification and recognizing valid, altered, or fake IDs
- Recognizing the signs of intoxication and knowing when to stop service
- Understanding the laws around serving minors and visibly intoxicated guests
- Handling difficult situations and refusing service safely
- Understanding liability — for the server, the seller, and the establishment
